This guide assumes that you already have MaxCut installed on your computers. If you need to install MaxCut on one or more computers, please click on the link below to go to our download page:
Here are three ways you can share your MaxCut materials, library, and other settings across multiple computers.
I. Copy and Paste in the Same Location
Best for: When you are transferring to a new machine and want to move away from the old one.
You can manually copy the MaxCut library and data files from one computer and paste them into the same location on another computer.
- Locate your library and MaxCut data files on your primary computer. The files are saved in the following location:
C:\ProgramData\MaxCut Software\MaxCut
- Copy these files to a USB drive or other external storage.
- Paste these files into the same directory on your other computer.
II. Save to Cloud Storage
Best for: When you need continuous online backup and real-time (dependent on internet speed) sharing of data across different locations.
Using cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive allows for automatic syncing of your files between devices (click on the link at the bottom of this article to see how to specify your settings location).
- Save your MaxCut library and materials in a folder within your cloud storage service. The files are saved in the following location by default:
C:\ProgramData\MaxCut Software\MaxCut
- Install the cloud storage app on all your computers.
- Your files will automatically sync, ensuring you always have the latest version.
- Adjust your MaxCut data and settings location (click on the link at the bottom of this article to see how)
III. Save to a Shared Folder or Network
Best for: Offices or workshops with multiple users, where changes need to be reflected soon after they are saved. This setup allows centralized control with fast distribution to other users.
If your computers are connected to the same network, you can store your MaxCut library and materials in a shared folder or on a network drive.
- Save your files to a folder that can be accessed by all the computers on the network.
- Ensure that all devices are connected to the network and have permissions to access the shared folder.
- Adjust your MaxCut settings location (click on the link at the bottom of this article to see how)
For additional details on custom data and settings locations, you can refer to this guide on specifying custom settings for sharing between machines.
