Our Excel import dialog simplifies the process of importing your data into MaxCut Software. Here's how it works and how you can make the most of it.
Note: When importing an Excel file, MaxCut will automatically import data from the first sheet in your workbook. Be sure to organize your data accordingly before importing to ensure a smooth process.
Key Features of the Excel Import Dialog
-
Auto-detection of Columns: The dialog automatically detects the columns in your file that match the field names in MaxCut. If your columns have the same name as the corresponding fields in MaxCut, the dialog will pre-map them for you, saving you time.
-
Remembers Your Column Selection: The dialog remembers the columns you've previously chosen for each field. This means that when you import a file again, it will be even quicker, as the settings are saved for seamless future imports.
-
Excluding the First Row: If the first row of your file contains headers rather than data, you can use the checkbox to exclude this row from the import. This ensures that only your data is processed.
-
Supports .xlsx Files: The dialog supports .xlsx files, giving you flexibility when choosing your file format for import.
-
Import Library Items: If you're importing library items, you can specify the name of the library item in column "V". This helps categorize and organize your imports easily.
What You See in the Preview
The dialog provides a preview of the file to help you ensure the import is set up correctly:
-
Top Row: The top row of the preview shows the columns as they are mapped in MaxCut, based on your previous configurations.
Note: The changes made in the Column Positions - Fields section (on the left) will affect the order and Preview of the columns (on the right). -
Second Row: The second row represents the column letters from your original Excel file, so you can see how the data corresponds to your file.
-
Subsequent Rows: The rows from the third row onwards display the actual contents of the file, allowing you to confirm that the data is correctly aligned.
Conclusion
With the Excel import dialog, importing data into MaxCut is easier and faster. The auto-detection, memory of previous configurations, and the ability to exclude header rows streamline the process, making it a more seamless experience. Whether you're importing standard data or library items, the preview feature helps ensure your import is correct before finalizing.
